  • What is fondant and modelling paste? Is it edible?
    According to Wikipedia, fondant is an icing used to decorate or sculpt cakes and pastries. It is made from sugar, water, gelatin, vegetable fat or shortening, and glycerol. Is it edible. Rolled fondant is mainly used to cover the cakes and cupcakes. Modelling paste is used for cake decorating and sugar modelling. It is ideal for all modelled figures and decorations where you want your paste to hold its shape and dry quickly, yet still remain soft enough to eat.
  • What is the shelf life ("best before") of fondant cake toppers?"
    Nearly all the fondant creations have a 6-8 month shelf life. However, if you don't plan to eat the cake topper and use it as a decoration only, it can be kept for many years. Just keep it in a dry place and away from the direct sunlight.
  • How is best to store a fondant cake topper?
    Keep the cake topper in a dry place, away from the direct sunlight (e.g. cupboard) or in a paper box (in which the cake topper will be shipped). Please DO NOT regrigerate or freeze fondant (it may melt).
